Capability1

Real Time 4WD that engages itself

The front wheels pull most of the time. When they slip in rain, snow or sand, the system sends power to the rear wheels on its own, and a ball-cam unit added for 2007 helps it respond sooner.

Available on some models

Safety2

Stability control and curtain airbags

Every one has Vehicle Stability Assist, anti-lock brakes with Brake Assist, a tire pressure monitor, active front head restraints, front side airbags and side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor.

IIHS Top Safety Pick

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2007, 2008 and 2009 CR-V a Top Safety Pick, with Good ratings in its frontal and side crash tests.

Space3

Lift-up tailgate, spare tire inside

The tailgate opens upward, so you can load from either side and stay dry under it in the rain. The spare tire rides under the cargo floor, which made the body 3.1 inches shorter and easier to park.

Sliding 60/40 rear seat

The split rear seat slides, folds and tumbles forward. Slide it back for legroom or forward for cargo, or fold it down for up to 72.9 cubic feet of space.

Two-level cargo shelf

EX and EX-L models have a dual-deck shelf that splits the cargo area into an upper and lower level. It holds up to 20 pounds, so groceries up top stay put while bulky items go below.

Tech2

Navigation with a rearview camera

The factory navigation option on the EX-L came with voice recognition and a rearview camera that turns on in reverse. On 2010–2011 models it also added Bluetooth hands-free calling.

Available on some models

Aux input on every trim

Every CR-V of this generation has an auxiliary audio jack, so a phone or music player can play through the speakers with a simple cable. The 2010–2011 EX-L also has a USB audio port.

Good to know1

Timing chain, no belt to replace

The 2.4-liter engine drives its camshafts with a chain, so there is no timing belt to replace on a mileage schedule. A Maintenance Minder tells you when service is due. Ask us what this car's records show.
