How buying a car from us works

By Great Little CarsUpdated October 6, 20265 min read

You can do almost all of it online, all of it in person, or a bit of both. Here's every step and what you need for it.

1. Find the car and reserve it

Every listing shows the price and an estimated monthly payment. Want to drive it first? Book a test drive online, or come by: Sun: Closed · Mon–Sat: 10am – 5pm.

Press Buy online on the car and you'll see your real numbers in about three minutes: payment, trade-in and the out-the-door total. No account needed to look.

To hold the car, put down a fully refundable $100 deposit and we keep it for you for 3 days. You can also send us the deal without a deposit; the car just isn't held.

How the deposit works

2. Send your documents

Your deal page in your account lists what's left, and you can snap each one with your phone:

  • Your driver's license
  • Insurance for this car
  • Where the car will be registered, and where to mail things
  • Proof of address, only if it's registered somewhere other than your license address

Financing? Apply online and we'll send it to our lending partners.

What to bring

3. Sign and pay

Pick a pickup time from your deal page. When you come in, your buyer's order shows every number, including tax, title and fees, before you sign anything. Your deposit counts toward the price.

Pay the rest with cash, a personal or cashier's check, a bank transfer (ACH), a debit or credit card (a processing fee applies to cards), or bank financing. We text or email a receipt for every payment.

4. Drive it home

You get the keys and leave on a temp tag. We file the title work with the MVD and text you when your plate is ready to pick up.

Rather do it all in person? Come by, drive the car, and we'll do the same steps at our desk. Bring the things on the What to bring list and it goes quickly.
