Capability3
All-wheel drive on every one
Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is standard, with the manual or the automatic. Power goes to all four wheels, which helps on snow, rain and loose gravel.
8.7 inches off the ground
Every Crosstrek of this generation sits 8.7 inches off the ground, the Hybrid included. That leaves room for deep snow, rutted dirt roads and steep driveways.
Hybrid: electric help in town
This Crosstrek Hybrid pairs the 2.0L engine with an electric motor for 160 hp combined. It can run on electric power alone below 25 mph for short stretches, and the engine shuts off at stops.
Safety4
EyeSight Driver Assist
Two cameras by the mirror watch the road ahead. EyeSight can brake for you, keep a set gap on cruise control and warn you if you drift. It was offered from 2015, with the automatic only.
IIHS award with EyeSight
With EyeSight, the 2016 Crosstrek earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and the 2017 a Top Safety Pick. Both awards applied only to cars with this optional front crash prevention.
Knee airbag and stability control
Front, side and side-curtain airbags are standard, plus a driver's knee airbag. Vehicle Dynamics Control and anti-lock brakes help keep the car steady when grip runs short.
Blind spot and cross-traffic alerts
New for 2016, Blind Spot Detection warns of cars beside you, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert watches for traffic as you back out. Standard on Limited and Hybrid Touring.
Space1
Up to 51.9 cubic feet of cargo
Fold the 60/40 split rear seatbacks and you get a flat load floor with up to 51.9 cubic feet of space. The Hybrid gives up a little room to its battery, at 50.2.
Tech1
STARLINK touchscreen
From 2015, every trim got a STARLINK touchscreen: 6.2 inches on most, 7 inches on Limited. Bluetooth handles hands-free calls and music streaming from your phone.
Good to know3
Timing chain, no belt to replace
The 2.0L FB engine uses a timing chain, so there is no scheduled timing belt replacement. Regular oil changes matter, so ask us what this car's service records show.
About the automatic (CVT)
Every automatic here is a Lineartronic CVT. Subaru extended CVT coverage on 2013–2015 models to 10 years or 100,000 miles. Ask us what this car's records show.
Oil use coverage on 2013 models
Subaru extended coverage for excess oil use on 2013 XV Crosstreks to 8 years or 100,000 miles. On a car this age it has ended. Ask us what this car's records show.
