The 2013–2018 RAV4 is a five-seat compact SUV with a lift-up hatch, a 6-speed automatic and available all-wheel drive. The RAV4 Hybrid joined for 2016 with 194 hp and standard AWD, and from 2017 every RAV4 has Toyota Safety Sense P.

Dynamic Torque Control AWD
This gas RAV4 has Dynamic Torque Control AWD. It can send up to half of the engine's torque to the rear wheels as grip changes, which helps on wet, snowy or gravel roads.
194 hp from the hybrid system
The RAV4 Hybrid pairs a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine with electric motors for 194 total horsepower. Toyota quoted 0 to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds.
AWD-i on every Hybrid
Every RAV4 Hybrid has AWD-i. A separate electric motor turns the rear wheels when extra traction is needed, such as pulling away on snow or a wet hill.
Adventure: more clearance, 3,500 lb towing
The 2018 Adventure grade rides at 6.5 inches of ground clearance, up from 6.1. With AWD and its standard Tow Prep Package it is rated to tow 3,500 lb.

Every 2017–2018 RAV4 has TSS-P: a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection that can brake for you, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams and radar cruise control.

Every RAV4 of this generation has eight airbags, stability and traction control, and a backup camera that shows on the dash touchscreen.
Blind Spot Monitor with cross-traffic alert
Radar watches the lanes beside you and lights a signal in the mirror when a car is there. Rear Cross Traffic Alert warns of traffic passing behind you as you back out of a space.

Lift-up hatch and reclining rear seats
This generation replaced the side-swinging rear door with a roof-hinged liftgate. The 60/40 split rear seats fold for long items and recline a few degrees for comfort.
Power liftgate with height memory
Open and close the hatch at the touch of a button. You can set how high it opens, which helps in a garage with a low ceiling.

Touchscreen audio with Bluetooth
Every RAV4 of this generation has a touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth hands-free calling and a USB port. The same screen shows the backup camera.

Timing chain, no belt to replace
The 2.5-liter engine in both the gas and Hybrid models drives its camshafts with a chain, so there is no scheduled timing belt job. Regular oil changes help keep it healthy.
