2010–2015 Toyota Prius

Capability3
Hybrid Synergy Drive
A 1.8L gas engine (98 hp) and an 80 hp electric motor share the work for 134 net hp. The car blends them on its own, and the battery recharges as you drive and brake.
EV, ECO and Power modes
Four modes suit different drives. EV Mode runs on battery alone at low speeds for about a mile when conditions allow, and ECO and Power modes change how the car responds to the pedal.
No accessory drive belts
The 1.8L was the first Toyota engine that needs no accessory drive belts. Its water pump is electric, so there is no accessory belt to inspect or replace.
Safety3
Seven airbags and stability control
Seven airbags are standard, including a driver's knee airbag. Toyota's Star Safety System adds stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes and Brake Assist.
IIHS Top Safety Pick
The IIHS named the Prius a Top Safety Pick for 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, with Good ratings in its front, side and head-restraint tests.
Radar cruise and Pre-Collision System
The optional Advanced Technology Package added radar cruise control that keeps a set gap to the car ahead, a Pre-Collision System and Lane Keep Assist.
Space1
A hatchback that swallows gear
The hybrid battery sits under the floor behind the rear seat, so you still get about 22 cubic feet of cargo space under the liftback, and more with the rear seat folded.
Tech2
Moonroof, often with solar panels
A power moonroof was optional, most often in the Solar Roof Package. Its solar panels run a fan that vents a parked car's cabin, and remote A/C can cool it before you get in. Ask us which this car has.
Smart Key with push-button start
Smart Key lets you unlock the car and start it with the key still in your pocket or bag. Press the power button and the hybrid system is ready.
Good to know1
Extended inverter coverage
Under a class action settlement, Toyota covers the inverter's power module on certain 2010–2015 Prius for 20 years from first use, no mileage limit, for listed fault codes. Ask us to check this car's VIN.
Specs are the manufacturer's figures for this generation. Equipment varies by trim and year, so ask us about anything that matters to you on a specific car.
